The Modem Wizard reads your (presumably working) Windows modem setup from the
Registry rather than guessing how to make your modem work.
You can use the Modem Wizard if you are running PC Access for Windows
Version 4.00 or later.
If you are running PC Access for Windows Version 4.30
or later you already have the Modem Wizard and do not need to download it.
To use the Modem Wizard, see: How to use the Modem Wizard
PC Access 4.00 - 4.20 users, follow these instructions:
Download and Install the Modem Wizard to use the Modem
Wizard.
- Note: Windows 3.1x users cannot use the Modem Wizard.
- Exit PC Access.
- Download the Modem Wizard from MFM's Web site:
http://support.mfm.com/files/windows/pcaccess/modemwiz.exe.
Save the modemwiz.exe file to your PC Access executable directory.
- After you download the modemwiz.exe file, click
Start | Run. In the Run
dialog box, next to the Open: field, type:
C:\PCAWIN\MODEMWIZ.EXE
- Note: The above command assumes that your PC Access executable
directory is C:\PCAWIN. If your executable directory is not
C:\PCAWIN, substitute the name of your PC Access executable directory
in the command above.
- The Modem Wizard will detect your modem.
Click OK on the Modem Wizard window.
- Note: If you have trouble downloading the Modem Wizard or
if the Modem Wizard is unable to detect your modem; complete the
PC Access for Windows Problem Report Form and MFM
Technical Support will assist you.
If you use PC Access 4.30, you already have the Modem Wizard
installed. Use the instructions below to run the Modem Wizard.
- From the PC Access Main Menu click Setup Menu |
Advanced | Modem.
- On the Modem Setup window, click Wizard.
- The Modem Wizard will read your Windows Registry for the
available modem(s) installed in your computer.
Click OK on the Modem Wizard window.
- If the Modem Wizard is unable to
detect your modem, the following error message will appear:
Error! No modems are defined in Windows.
The Modem Wizard only works if your PC
already has at least one modem defined
in the Windows Registry.
You will still be able to manually set
up the modem in PC Access.
If you receive the above error message, make sure you have the correct
modem driver installed in Windows. If you do have the correct modem driver
installed in Windows, this page in the
PC Access for Windows Troubleshooting Guide will help you manually set up
your modem in PC Access:
