Q: When I run 147TO151.EXE to apply the PC Access for Windows 4.30.151 (Build 151) Update Patch, what files does 147TO151.EXE update in the PC Access executable directory?

A: The Build 151 Update Patch Program (147TO151.EXE) changes seven files in your PC Access executable directory. (If you accepted the default choice when you installed PC Access, your PC Access executable directory will be C:\PCAWIN.)

In PC Access 4.30.147, these files have these dates and sizes:

12/22/98 03:33p 304,640 PCAPLUS.EXE
12/22/98 03:31p 692,224 PCAW32.DLL
12/15/98 04:56p 1,377,792 PCAWIN.EXE

03/11/99 10:46a 5,702 README.TXT

Q: Do I need to download the Winzip self-extracting UPD151Z.EXE in addition to the (Build 151) Update Patch?

A: No. The Winzip self-extracting Build 151 Update Patch is an alternative to the (Build 151) Update Patch. MFM created the Winzip self-extracting (Build 151) Update Patch for those users have difficulty installing the (Build 151) Update Patch.

You may download the Winzip self-extracting (Build 151) Update Patch instead of the (Build 151) Update Patch. The Winzip self-extracting (Build 151) Update Patch is larger than the (Build 151) Update Patch and will take longer to download. Either method will update your copy of PC Access for Windows 4.30.147 to 4.30.151.

In PC Access 4.30.147, these files have these dates and sizes:

12/22/98 03:33p 304,640 PCAPLUS.EXE
12/22/98 03:31p 692,224 PCAW32.DLL
12/15/98 04:56p 1,377,792 PCAWIN.EXE
11/28/98 05:32p 402,896 PCAWINUA.EXE
12/14/98 12:40a 66,541 PCAWRG.DHN
12/14/98 11:22a 2,998,112 PCAWRG.HLP
10/27/98 12:43p 4,259 README.TXT
After you run the Winzip self-extracting update, these files will have these dates and sizes:

03/09/99 03:33p 513,024 PCAPLUS.EXE
03/09/99 03:33p 587,776 PCAW32.DLL

03/11/99 10:46a 5,702 README.TXT
In addition to the above files, the WinZip self-extracting update adds this text file:
03/25/99 03:22p 1,764 REFGUIDE.TXT

Q: What if the PC Access for Windows 4.30.151 (Build 151) Update Patch fails to update my copy of PC Access for Windows 4.30?

A: Verify that you are running PC Access for Windows 4.30.147. If you are unsure of how to verify your PC Access version, please see:

How to Determine your PC Access Build Number.

If PC Access for Windows 4.30.147 is appearing on the PC Access for Windows Main Menu, check the following PC Access for Windows 4.30.147 files in your PC Access executable directory:

12/22/98 03:33p 304,640 PCAPLUS.EXE
12/22/98 03:31p 692,224 PCAW32.DLL
12/15/98 04:56p 1,377,792 PCAWIN.EXE
11/28/98 05:32p 402,896 PCAWINUA.EXE
12/14/98 12:40a 66,541 PCAWRG.DHN
12/14/98 11:22a 2,998,112 PCAWRG.HLP
10/27/98 12:43p 4,259 README.TXT
If any one of these files does not match the PC Access for Windows Build 151 files, you are not using a public release of PC Access for Windows 4.30.
Q: After applying the PC Access for Windows
4.30.151 (Build 151) Update Patch, can I revert back to PC Access for Windows 4.30.147?

A: Yes. If you make a backup copy of the following files before you apply the (Build 151) Update Patch, you can manually copy them back to your PC Access executable directory to return your copy of PC Access back to 4.30.147.

12/22/98 03:33p 304,640 PCAPLUS.EXE
12/22/98 03:31p 692,224 PCAW32.DLL
12/15/98 04:56p 1,377,792 PCAWIN.EXE
11/28/98 05:32p 402,896 PCAWINUA.EXE
12/14/98 12:40a 66,541 PCAWRG.DHN
12/14/98 11:22a 2,998,112 PCAWRG.HLP
10/27/98 12:43p 4,259 README.TXT
To back up these files, make a temporary directory on your hard disk and copy the files from your PC Access executable directory to the temporary directory. For example, if your PC Access executable directory is C:\PCAWIN, and you create a temporary directory with the name C:\BACKUP, you can back up the above files with these DOS commands:
C:
CD \
MKDIR \BACKUP
CD \PCAWIN
COPY PCAPLUS.EXE \BACKUP
COPY PCAW32.DLL \BACKUP
COPY PCAWIN.EXE \BACKUP
COPY PCAWINUA.EXE \BACKUP
COPY PCAWRG.DHN \BACKUP
COPY PCAWRG.HLP \BACKUP
COPY README.TXT \BACKUP
DIR \BACKUP

If you did not make a backup of the above files before installing the PC Access for Windows (Build 151) Update Patch, you could reinstall PC Access for Windows 4.30.147 from your original product diskettes to revert to Build 147.
