Introduction

The PC Access Password prevents unauthorized persons from accessing your Agent Setup information and logging into your MLS account with your MLS Login Name and MLS Password.

If you assigned a PC Access Password in the PC Access Password field on the Add/Edit Agent window, and any of the following are true:

  • You cannot remember your PC Access Password
  • You want to change or remove your PC Access Password
  • You incorrectly entered your PC Access Password
select one of the following URLs:
  • Note: Some people refer to the PC Access Password as an Agent Password because PC Access lets you assign it on the Add/Edit Agent window.

How to Correct an Incorrect Password in a Broker Version

  • Note: If your Broker version has only one Agent on the Agent List window and:
    1. PC Access displays the Agent Password window when you start PC Access
    2. You cannot remember your password
    3. When you click Cancel from the Agent Password window, PC Access closes and returns you to your desktop
    4. You are using PC Access version 4.20.125 or later
    you need to delete the PCAWIN.AGT file. To delete the PCAWIN.AGT file, see: How to Correct an Incorrect Password in an Agent Version. If you are using PC Access version 4.30.124 or earlier, continue with the instructions below.

  • Note: When you delete the PCAWIN.AGT file you remove all of the agents on the Agent List window. If you have entered several names in your Agent List window, use the instructions below to correct an incorrect password.
  1. From the PC Access Main Menu, click Setup Menu | Advanced | Agents.
    • Note: If PC Access prompts you for an Administrator Password, contact your System Administrator for assistance with the steps that follow.
  2. From the Agent List window, highlight your name and click Edit.
  3. On the Edit Agent window, look next to the PC Access Password field. This is the password that PC Access prompts you for when you select your name from the Agent List window.
  4. If you would like to change your PC Access Password, replace the existing password with a new password. Click OK to save your changes.

How to Correct an Incorrect Password in an Agent Version

Select your Windows version:

Windows 95, 98, NT

  1. Click Start | Find | Files or Folders.
  2. In the Find: All Files window:
    • In the Named: field, type PCAWIN.AGT.
    • In the Look in: field, select the drive you installed PC Access to. If you used the default drive when you installed PC Access, select C:.
  3. Click Find Now.
  4. In the bottom of the Find: All Files window, right-click on PCAWIN.AGT. Click Delete from the pop-up window.
  5. Run PC Access for Windows. PC Access will display the following message:
    No Agents defined! You must set up at least
    one agent before running PC Access.
  6. From the PC Access Main Menu, click Setup Menu | Advanced | Agents.
  7. Complete the information on the Add Agent window.
    • Note: If you are running an Agent Version of PC Access on a computer that is reasonably physically secure (such as a computer in a home office) there is probably no reason to assign a PC Access Password.
  8. When you finish adding your information on the Add Agent window, click OK.
    • Note: If you would like to back up the PC Access Agent List file, click Start | Programs | PC Access for Windows | Back Up PCAWin Setup. Follow the instructions on your screen to back up the PC Access Agent List file.

Windows 3.1x

  1. Click File | Exit Windows.
  2. From the MS-DOS Prompt, type the following commands:
    • Note: If you accepted the defaults when you installed PC Access for Windows, your executable directory is C:\PCAWIN. (If you installed PC Access to a different directory, substitute that directory in the following commands.)
      CD \PCAWIN
      DEL PCAWIN.AGT
      
  3. Type
      WIN
      
    to restart Windows.
  4. Run PC Access for Windows. PC Access will display the following message:
    No Agents defined! You must set up at least
    one agent before running PC Access.
  5. From the PC Access Main Menu, click Setup Menu | Advanced | Agents.
  6. Complete the information on the Add Agent window.
    • Note: If you are running an Agent Version of PC Access on a computer that is reasonably physically secure (such as a computer in a home office) there is probably no reason to assign a PC Access Password.
  7. When you finish adding your information on the Add Agent window, click OK.
    • Note: If you would like to back up the PC Access Agent List file, double-click the Back Up PCAWin Setup icon from the PC Access for Windows Program Group.
