How to Determine your PC Access® Serial Number
Quick Contents
Using the PC Access for Windows Main Menu Window
- From the PC Access for Windows Main Menu Window: [
Version 4.20 and earlier] [
Version 4.30]
- Look in the upper half of the right side of the window for a block of text
that includes:
Using the About PC Access for Windows Window
- Click on the MFM logo button in the upper right corner
of the PC Access for Windows Main Menu Window: [
Version 4.20 and earlier] [
Version 4.30]. This opens the About PC Access for Windows
window.
- Look in the middle left side of the window for the Serial #
field:
If you installed PC Access but are unable to access the PC Access Main Menu window,
you can view your serial number in the PC Access license file (PCAWIN.LIC).
- Note: do not edit the PCAWIN.LIC file. Editing
this file will invalidate your PC Access registration.
- Open an MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt window:
- Windows 95/98: click Start |
Programs | MS-DOS Prompt
- Windows NT 4.0: click Start |
Programs | Command Prompt
- Windows ME: click Start |
Programs | Accessories |
MS-DOS Prompt
- Windows 2000: click Start |
Programs | Accessories |
Command Prompt
- Windows XP: click Start |
Programs or All Programs |
Accessories | Command Prompt
- You can view the PCAWIN.LIC file in the PC Access executable
directory or on Disk 1.
- Note: after you installed PC Access, the installation program
prompted you to back up certain files to Disk 1. If you
did not back up the PC Access files to Disk 1, you
cannot view the PCAWIN.LIC on Disk 1.
- From the MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt
window, type the following commands:
CD PCAWIN
TYPE PCAWIN.LIC
- Note: if you installed PC Access into a directory other than PCAWIN,
substitute PCAWIN with that directory name. If you are viewing the
PCAWIN.LIC file from Disk 1, you do not need
to type CD PCAWIN.
- After you type the above commands, Windows displays the contents
of the PCAWIN.LIC file. The first line of the PCAWIN.LIC
file contains your serial number. For example:
[430123456].
- Type EXIT to close the MS-DOS Prompt or
Command Prompt window.
