Storing the update files on diskettes will save you download time if
you need to update PC Access 4.30 to
Build 158 again.
The update is too large to fit on a single High Density 1.44MB 3.5" diskettes,
so MFM created a separate version of the update that fits on several diskettes.
The update consists of three self-extracting
archive files containing disk image files. Do not download the self-extracting
archive files directly to diskettes. Instead you must first download the archive
files to a temporary folder on your hard disk, and then
extract the disk images they contain to diskettes. Follow the steps
below to create your PC Access update disks.
- Windows 95, 98 and NT users:
click Start | Programs | Windows Explorer.
Windows 3.1x users, use Windows File Manager.
- Click File | New | Folder.
- The Contents pane of Windows Explorer should say:
where ... is the volume label of your C: drive. Type PCATEMP for
the name of the new folder Windows Explorer created on your
C: drive.
- Download the disk image
self-extracting archive files to the C:\PCATEMP
on your hard disk. Build 158 requires three diskettes,
so click on the following three links
to download three self-extracting archives.
Download the
Build 158 Update Disk 1 Self-Extracting
Archive
Download the
Build 158 Update Disk 2 Self-Extracting
Archive
Download the
Build 158 Update Disk 3 Self-Extracting
Archive
- Note: do not copy the self-extracting archive files directly to
diskettes. You must first download them to
C:\PCATEMP
and then
extract their contents to diskettes with the following steps.
- After you download the disk image self-extracting archive files to the
C:\PCATEMP
on your hard disk:
- Windows 95, 98 and NT users:
click Start |
Programs | Windows Explorer.
- Windows 3.1x users, use Windows File Manager.
- On the left window pane, click on the
PCATEMP folder.
- On the right window pane, double-click on
UPD158-1.EXE.
- Insert a blank 3.5" diskette in the diskette drive; click Unzip.
- Note: You will repeat steps 7 and 8 for the files:
UPD158-2.EXE and UPD158-3.EXE.
- Note: Do not use your factory original PC Access diskettes. You
must use blank 3.5" diskettes.
- Note: These are WinZip self
extracting files that will extract the
contents of the disk image self-extracting archive files to 3.5" diskettes.
When you finish, you should have three
disks that contain the update files for
Build 158.
- To install the Build 158 update,
insert the first of the three disks you
just created into the disk drive.
- Windows 95, 98 and NT users, Click
Start | Run.
Windows 3.1x users click File | Run.
- In the Open: field, type
A:\SETUP.EXE
click OK.
- Follow the instructions on your screen to install the update.
