Fax Everywhere Reference Guidefor Version 1.00Fax Modem Devices Tab: TAPI DNIS DigitsThe TAPI DNIS Digits field appears on the Server Setup | Fax Modem Devices tab in the Fax Everywhere Control Panel. You can use this field to specify the number of CNI (called number identification) or DNIS (dialed number identification service) digits Fax Everywhere receives from the TAPI driver. If the modem you select from the Devices pane is not a TAPI device, Fax Everywhere makes this field gray (unselectable). If the value in the TAPI DNIS Digits field is greater than zero, Fax Everywhere makes the Fax Modem Ext. # field gray (unselectable). Fax modems can use TAPI DNIS digits if they have a direct termination of an inbound telephone network trunk service that supports DNIS or CNI, e.g. T-1 or ISDN. If this is the case, the fax modem is not behind a PBX system and Fax Everywhere does not use the value from the Fax Modem Ext # field to route faxes. Fax Everywhere uses the DNIS digit information delivered through TAPI to determine which user can receive inbound faxes. You should set the number in the TAPI DNIS Digits spin control to match the number of DNIS digits delivered by the telephone carrier, for example, 3, 4, 7 or 10 digits. Fax Everywhere matches the DNIS digits with the fax number in the Fax Phone # field on the User Setup tab. Fax Everywhere starts with the right most digits in this field to determine where it should route the incoming fax to. Fax Everywhere does support the use of some fax modem devices behind a PBX system and other fax modems directly terminated on a telephone circuit capable of providing DNIS or CNI data delivery. Before you attempt to use DNIS make sure the fax modem vendor's TAPI driver supports Called Number delivery through TAPI. Fax Everywhere cannot automatically route inbound faxes without this support.
