Setup Tab: Auto Download Faxes

The Auto Download Faxes drop-down list appears in the Inbound Fax Functions group on the Setup tab in the Fax Everywhere Fax Client.

The amount of time you specify in the Auto Download Faxes drop-down list tells Fax Everywhere how often to check the e-mail address you entered in the My E-mail Address field for e-mail messages from Fax Everywhere.

If Fax Everywhere finds an e-mail message from the Fax Everywhere server, it downloads the .PDF file attachment to the directory in the Download PDF Files to Directory field.

Fax Everywhere may be unable to download your faxes if all of the following conditions are true:

• you selected an amount of time from the Auto Download Faxes drop-down list, and;
  
  
• you set up your e-mail program to automatically download then remove your e-mail messages from the e-mail server, and;
  
  
• your e-mail program is open for long periods of time.

If your e-mail program is open and it downloads then removes your e-mail messages from the server before Fax Everywhere checks for e-mail messages, Fax Everywhere will not find any faxes to download. This is because your e-mail program downloaded then removed your e-mail messages from the server before Fax Everywhere could check your e-mail address for faxes to download.

You may be able to correct this problem by increasing the number of minutes your e-mail program waits before it automatically downloads your e-mail messages. You can also decrease the number of minutes Fax Everywhere waits to download e-mail messages.

To use this feature effectively, you should use an IMAP based e-mail program. An IMAP based e-mail program will let the e-mail program and Fax Everywhere have independent access to your e-mail address. If you do not have access to an IMAP based e-mail program, you could have a separate e-mail address for Fax Everywhere. For example, you can set up Fax Everywhere to send your faxes to one e-mail address and you can use another e-mail address to send and receive e-mail.

Note: the Log tab lists the dates and times Fax Everywhere checked for messages and downloaded .PDF files.

Fax Everywhere creates a FAXLOG.TXT file in the directory in the Download PDF File to Directory field. The FAXLOG.TXT field contains the e-mail Message Body and the name of the .PDF file it downloaded to the directory in the Download PDF File to Directory field. Fax Everywhere appends the entries in the FAXLOG.TXT file each time it downloads a .PDF file.
