Fax Everywhere Control Panel and Service Panel Reference Guide

for Version 1.00

Server Settings Tab: Inbound Hunting

The Inbound Hunting drop-down list appears on the Server Setup | Server Settings tab in the Fax Everywhere Control Panel.

The choices in the Inbound Hunting drop-down list effect how Fax Everywhere chooses which fax modem it uses to send faxes. You have the following two choices:

  • Terminal: Fax Everywhere chooses the least recently used modem. If you select Terminal, the PBX directs inbound faxes to modems. It starts with the same modem every time and works down the list until it finds an idle modem. By default, Fax Everywhere selects Terminal.

  • Circular: if you select Circular, the PBX directs faxes to modems sequentially. This means after a device uses a modem, the hunting of the inbound call returns to the first modem in the PBX's list of extensions. In this case, Fax Everywhere starts its search for an idle modem and uses the most recently used modem.

You can check with your PBX provider to find out what type of inbound hunting your PBX system uses for incoming calls to Fax Everywhere.

By using one of the choices in the Inbound Hunting drop-down list, Fax Everywhere has a lower chance of creating the glare condition.

Note: glare is a common problem on loop start telephone lines where trunk seizure for an outbound call can occur during the brief interval of call setup when the central office or PBX is offering an inbound call. Glare is basically the collision of near simultaneous inbound and outbound call attempts on the same telephone line.
