Reply to E-mail Commands: Available Commands

You can use the Reply to E-mail Commands to communicate certain things to Fax Everywhere.

Note: some of the Reply to E-mail Commands are equivalent to commands in the Fax Everywhere Web Interface, the Fax Everywhere Control Panel, and the Fax Everywhere Fax Client. If you have access to either of these interfaces, you will probably find them more convenient than issuing the equivalent commands via e-mail.

This topic lists the available commands. For information on how to use these commands, see: Reply to E-mail Commands.

  • Rotate: if you receive an upside-down fax, you can reply to the e-mail message with rotate as the first line of the Message Body. Fax Everywhere will e-mail you a rotated version of the fax.

  • Delete: the delete command has the same effect as checking the Delete check box on the Fax History tab, or on the Fax Archive window. This tells Fax Everywhere to mark the fax for deletion at midnight. To mark a fax for deletion, you can reply to the e-mail message with delete as the first line of the Message Body. Fax Everywhere will later delete the fax from the Fax History tab, Fax Archive window, and the ARCHIVE directory. If Fax Everywhere has not yet deleted a fax, you can un-mark it for deletion with the undelete command.

  • Undelete: the undelete command has the same effect as un-checking the Delete check box on the Fax History tab, or on the Fax Archive window. This tells Fax Everywhere not to delete the fax at midnight. This command has no effect if Fax Everywhere has already deleted the fax. The undelete command does not really un-do an actual deletion; rather, it merely un-marks a fax for deletion that you previously marked for deletion. To un-mark a message, reply to the fax message with undelete as the first line of the Message Body.

  • Description: the description command has the same effect as editing the Description field on the Fax History tab and the Fax Archive window. If you would like to add a brief description to a fax, you can use the description command. To add a description, reply to the e-mail message with the word description; followed by your description in quotation marks, as the first line of the Message Body. For example: description "Web Site Proposal".

  • Spam: the spam command has the same effect as checking the Spam check box on the Fax History tab; or clicking the Mark as Spam button the View Fax window, or the View Thumbnails window. If you would like to register your fax as spam with Fax Everywhere, reply to the e-mail message with spam as the first line of the Message Body. When Fax Everywhere registers a fax as spam, it will delete any future incoming faxes whose contents match at least 95% with any of the registered spam faxes.

  • Name: if you received a fax from a company or individual who is not in the Fax # Associations table in the Fax Everywhere Control Panel you can use the name command to add that company or individual to the Fax # Associations table. To add a name, reply to the e-mail message with the company's or individual's name in quotes, for example: "ABC Company", as the first line of the Message Body. You can also use the name command to update an existing entry on the Fax # Associations table.

  • Tag: the tag command has the same effect as editing the Tag field on the Fax History tab, the Fax Archive window, or the Addressing tab in Fax Everywhere Fax Client. You can add a numeric tag (up to 10 digits) to any fax. If you add a numeric tag to a fax, you can access the fax via the telephone IVR system and forward the fax to any fax number. To add or change a tag number, you can reply to the e-mail message with tag (followed by numbers) as the first line of the Message Body. For example: tag 123456.

  • Publish: the publish command has the same effect as checking the Publish check box on the Fax History tab, the Fax Archive window, the Send Fax window, or the Addressing tab in Fax Everywhere Fax Client. If you would like all Fax Everywhere users in your group to view a fax, via the Fax Everywhere Web Interface, you can reply to the e-mail message with publish as the first line of the Message Body.

  • Private: the private command has the same effect as un-checking the Publish check box for a fax on the Fax History tab and on the Fax Archive window. If you replied to a message with publish as the first line of the Message Body, and now you want to tell Fax Everywhere not to share the fax with other users in your group, you can use the private command. To make a fax private, reply to the same message you replied to with the publish command and type private as the first line of the Message Body.
