Display resolution refers to the total numbers of available pixels in the horizontal and vertical directions. For example, 640x480 refers to a display with 640 pixels horizontally and 480 pixels vertically. Printer resolution refers to the number of available pixels in one linear inch on a printed page. For example, a high-quality laser printer prints at up to 600 pixels per inch. Printer pixels are usually called dots, so printer resolutions usually have units of dots per inch (DPI).
