System Templates vs User Templates

PC Access Flyer maintains two types of flyer templates: System Templates and User Templates. Before you modify or create a new template(s), it is important to understand the differences between the two types of templates.

· System Templates are read-only templates and are available to all PC Access Flyer users. You cannot make persistent changes to a system template. However, you can make temporary changes to a system template in the:

¨ Flyer Preview pane on the Flyer Wizard | Step 4 window

¨ Flyer Preview pane on the History List | Step 2 window

PC Access Flyer stores system templates in the PCAFLYER subdirectory. When you click on a template in the Template Gallery window, PC Access Flyer displays the path and file name of the template on the bottom on the window. If a template is in the PCAFLYER subdirectory, it is a system template.

· User Templates are personal templates that PC Access Flyer stores in your agent subdirectory. You can make temporary changes to a user template in the:

¨ Flyer Preview pane on the Flyer Wizard | Step 4 window

¨ Flyer Preview pane on the History List | Step 2 window

If the name of a template appears in italics on the Gallery tab, it is a user template.

You can make persistent changes to a user template in the Template Designer window.

PC Access Flyer stores your user templates in your agent subdirectory. When you click on a template in the Template Gallery window, PC Access Flyer displays the path and file name of the template on the bottom on the window. If a template is in your agent subdirectory, it is a user template.

Whenever you open a system template, you are actually opening a copy of the template. When you click on a system template, PC Access Flyer displays the Copy System Template? confirmation message. If you click Yes on the confirmation message, PC Access Flyer automatically saves the system template as a user template.

It is possible to have a system template and a user template with the same file name, but different paths. If you opened the C:\PCAWIN\PCAFLYER\BIGPIC1.TEM file (a system template) changed the design and closed the file, you would have two versions of the flyer in your Template Gallery. The modified version would be in your agent subdirectory as a user template, and the original system template would be in the PCAFLYER subdirectory.
