Set up your Internet Connection

If you can connect to your MLS system via your Internet connection, follow the instructions below to set up PC Access to use your Internet connection.

1. From the PC Access Main Menu window, click Setup Menu | Advanced | MLS Setup. In the Connection box on the General tab, click the TCP-Telnet radio button.
   
   
2. On the TCP/IP tab, enter the IP address of your MLS in the Host Name or IP Address field. The default value in the Telnet TCP Port field is 23. Do not change this value unless your MLS instructs you to do so. When you finish, click OK.
   
   
3. From the Setup Menu window, click Internet.

   

4. The Dial-Up Connection field on the Internet Setup window will contain the name of your dial-up networking connection (for example, My Connection). If you have more than one dial-up networking connection set up in Windows, select the one you use to connect to your ISP.
   
   
5. In the Dial-Up Password field, enter the password you use to access the Internet.
   
   
6. You can enter your mail server in the Default Mail Server field. If you are setting up a Broker or Network version of PC Access, all of the agents in the Agent Setup tab may use the mail server you enter in this field to send listings via e-mail. However, if an agent specifies their own mail server in the My Internet Mail Server field on the E-mail Setup window, PC Access will use the mail server in this field instead of the mail server in the Default Mail Server field.

   If you want agents to use their own mail server to send listings via e-mail, leave the Default Mail Server field blank. This means each agent will need to specify their own mail server in the My Internet Mail Server field on the E-mail Setup window.

7. If you access the Internet via a Cable Modem or DSL, check the Use LAN to Access the Internet radio button. This will tell PC Access to connect to your MLS using your Cable Modem or DSL connection. If you select this radio button, you do not need to enter a password in the Dial-Up Password field.

You are now ready to connect to your MLS. See: Dialing in for the First Time.
