Uninstalling PC Access

(Contents)(Previous)(Next)

The PC Access program is copy-protected. This means you can only install it on one computer at a time. This is necessary for securing your account on the MLS. The MLS permits only paid subscribers to access it through their own accounts. Therefore, your copy of PC Access contains codes which identify it as belonging to you (if you have the Agent version) or your office (if you have the Office/Broker version). If other agents obtained illegal copies of your PC Access program, they could access your MLS account and act irresponsibly or illegally---while appearing to be you to the MLS provider.

If you want to move your copy of PC Access to a different hard disk or a different computer (for example, if you upgrade your hardware), you must first uninstall it. (If you have the Office/Broker version of PC Access, only the System Administrator should do this.)

To uninstall PC Access from your computer follow these steps:

1. Locate your PC Access distribution diskette number one (the diskette with a serial number in the upper-right corner, that you received when you purchased PC Access). Place this in the same diskette drive on your computer from which you originally installed PC Access.

¨ If you have multiple copies of PC Access, be sure you use the diskette with serial number matching the serial number on the PC Access Main Menu window of your copy of PC Access.

2. From the PC Access Main Menu window, click the Setup Menu button. (If the Setup Assistant window opens first, click the Advanced button to open the Advanced Setup Menu window.)

3. Click the Authorization button on the Advanced Setup Menu window to open the User Authorization window.

4. Click the Uninstall button on the User Authorization window, and follow the instructions PC Access gives you.

Note: When you uninstall PC Access from your computer's hard drive you are actually only uninstalling the license mechanism. As a result, your PC Access files are still on your hard drive. This means that you can later re-install PC Access to this same hard drive and the SETUP program will preserve your previous setup information. This is most useful for agents who have a desktop computer and a laptop computer, but who only want to purchase a single copy of PC Access.
