Logging into the MFM Support BBS is essential for:
· Downloading updates to PC Access
· Downloading additional utility programs
· Uploading MSD report files, PORTINFO log files, comdebug files, and PC Access setup-dump files.
Follow these steps to log into the MFM Support BBS. Once you log in, follow the instructions for transferring the files you need to download or upload.
1. Start PC Access and get to the Main Menu window.
2. Click the Phone Book button. The Phone Book Select window opens.
3. In the Phone Book Entries list, you should see an entry with name: MFM Support BBS. Highlight this entry and click the Dial button. (If you don't have this entry, you'll need to set one up.)
4. When the Calling From window opens, click Home if you are dialing from home, and Office if you are dialing from an office. (If you are dialing from an office, but you do not have to dial "9" to get an outside line, then click Home.)
5. Wait several seconds while PC Access dials your modem and connects to the MFM BBS. The Phone Book entry you selected should have a script file that will automatically enter a user name for you on the BBS. (If the script file is missing, you have to type a user name. The First Name is PCAWIN and the Last Name is SUPPORT. Ignore the warning from the BBS to use your "real" name. That is a spurious warning from the BBS software that MFM is unable to override.).
6. The script file ends when the BBS prompts you for a password. Type the five letters: CLEAR, followed by the Enter key. The BBS will echo five asterisks (*****) to your Terminal window as you type.
7. Press the Enter key a few times to reach the BBS Main Menu.
8. At the BBS Main Menu, press the F key followed by Enter to reach the Files Menu.
9. Follow the instructions describing the file you want to transfer.
