Uninstalling PC Access

(Contents)(Previous)(Next)

You may uninstall the PC Access program files from your computer by double-clicking the Uninstall PC Access icon in your PC Access for Windows group (Windows 3.1x) or folder (Windows 95/NT).

However, before you do this, you need to think about the impact on your user authorization.

· If your copy of PC Access uses the disk tie method of user authorization, you should uninstall your user authorization to your "PC Access for Windows - Disk 1" before uninstalling PC Access. You may uninstall your user authorization by running the PC Access User Authorization Manager and clicking on the Uninstall button.

· If your copy of PC Access uses the machine tie method of user authorization, the UAM should have already made a backup copy of your user authorization file on your "Disk 1." You should double-click the Back Up PCAWin Setup icon before you double-click the Uninstall PC Access icon. This will insure that you have backed up your user authorization properly even if the UAM was unable to do so when you first installed PC Access.

Before you uninstall PC Access, you should also back up your PC Access setup files. You may do this by double-clicking the Back Up PC Access icon in your PC Access group or folder.

Finally, as an added measure of safety, you should create a setup-dump file and either print it out or save it to a spare diskette. The setup-dump file will let you recreate your current PC Access setup by hand if necessary.
