PC Access for Windows Reference Guide

for PC Access for Windows 4.30.158

Cannot create public download directory

This error indicates PC Access cannot create the subdirectory with the name DOWNLOAD in your PC Access executable directory. PC Access needs to create this directory if it does not already exist and any of these conditions are true:

· You checked the Use Public Download Directory box on the MLS Setup (General Tab) window, and you clicked the Call MLS button on the Main Menu window.

· You checked the Use Public Download Directory box on the Edit Phone Book Entry (General Tab) window, and you clicked the Dial button on the Phone Book window to connect to the corresponding entry.

· You clicked the Term button on the Modem Setup window. (The Test Terminal window unconditionally requires the DOWNLOAD subdirectory to exist.)

The error message also displays the error PC Access received from Windows when PC Access attempted to create the directory. You may wish to try creating the directory manually by opening an MS-DOS prompt window and typing the following commands:

C:
CD \PCAWIN
MKDIR DOWNLOAD

If the MKDIR command does not work, and you cannot determine why PC Access is unable to create the directory, follow the directions for a file error.
