PC Access for Windows Reference Guidefor PC Access for Windows 4.30.158Emulation Radio Button GroupThe Emulation radio button group appears on the MLS Setup (General Tab) window. The Emulation radio button group lets you select how PC Access will appear to the MLS. The first four emulations are not selectable on the MLS Setup (General Tab) window, but are selectable on the Add/Edit Phone Book Entry window. You should only use the first four emulations with bulletin board systems (BBS). If you are setting up a connection to your MLS, use the appropriate MLS emulation among the last four choices. When you select one of the MLS emulations, PC Access automatically sets several other items on the MLS Setup window to appropriate values. PC Access will also normally ask you for permission to load the default speed buttons for the type of emulation you have selected; ordinarily you should say yes. Your choices are: · TTY: This is the simplest emulation. PC Access will behave like a "dumb" terminal. This choice is only appropriate for very simple hosts. · VT-100 and ANSI: This choice is suitable for most bulletin-board systems. · VT-220: Some bulletin-board systems use this. · TVI-925: Some bulletin-board systems use this. · Maestro: Select this if you are dialing into a Maestro System MLS. · Master: Select this if you are dialing into a Master System MLS. · Compass: Select this if you are dialing into a Compass System MLS. · West Penn MLS: Select this if you are dialing into the West Penn Multi-List MLS. Setup item classification: · Parent window: MLS Setup (General Tab) · Setup item type: Advanced · Who specifies: MLS/Common, or the organization providing the other type of service you are dialing (e.g., a BBS). · Importance: Necessary
