PC Access for Windows Reference Guidefor PC Access for Windows 4.30.158Fatal error trying to run PC AccessThis message appears if LAUNCH.EXE receives an error code from Windows when it attempts to run the PC Access executable file (PCAWIN.EXE). Here is the general procedure for correcting these errors: · Shut down Windows, restart Windows, and try running PC Access again. · If the error persists, look up your specific error code/message and its remedies in the following list. · In some cases reinstalling PC Access may solve the problem. Before you reinstall PC Access, you should first back up your PC Access setup files, and uninstall PC Access. · If the error still persists, try running the Slide Show ( · If all else fails, follow the instructions for an Internal Error. Here are the possible fatal error codes: · 0: Insufficient memory or · Check for memory problems by following the remedy for error code 8 below. Check for file corruption by following the remedy for error codes 11,13..15,19 below. · 1,4,6,7,9,17,18,22..31: Unknown error. · Follow the instructions for an Internal Error. · 2: · Check whether · 3: Path specified to Exec · Check the PCAWinPath entry in your · 5: Sharing or Network-protection error running · You may need to reinstall PC Access. · 8: Insufficient Memory to run · If you are running Windows NT, you can check your computer's memory by right-clicking on the background area of your Taskbar and selecting Task Manager from the local menu. Select the Performance tab of the Windows NT Task Manager window and examine the Commit Charge box. If your current Total is near the Limit, then you will need to close some currently running applications before you can run PC Access. To make this problem less likely in the future, consider adding more memory (RAM) to your computer. · If you are running Window 95 it may be more difficult to determine your memory use. Try closing some currently running applications and see whether PC Access will run. · 10,12: · Upgrade to Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT. · 11,13..15,19: · You can check your · 16: PC Access appears to be running already, but it won't un-minimize. · If the remedies at the top of this file do not help, follow the instructions for an Internal Error. · 20: One or more DLLs for PC Access is damaged. · If restarting Windows does not correct the problem, try reinstalling PC Access. Before you reinstall PC Access, however, be sure to uninstall PC Access by double-clicking the Uninstall PC Access shortcut in your PC Access for Windows folder. · 21: · Follow the instructions for an Internal Error.
