File Manager: Keyboard Commands

If you don't have a mouse, you can navigate the File Manager window with the keyboard. You can move the highlight bar to the next or previous field, list, or button with the Tab key. The Shift-Tab key moves the highlight bar to the previous field, sub-window, or button. If a field, sub-window, or button has a hot key (an underlined letter), you may immediately select it by holding down the Alt key and pressing the key corresponding to the underlined letter. For example, to select the File Name field, press Alt-N.

You may move the highlight bar up or down in the Drives, Directories, and Files lists with the up-arrow or down-arrow keys (¯ ). Pressing the Enter key selects the highlighted entry.
