PING

An Internet software utility program that is part of newer versions of Windows and all versions of Unix. You can use PING to diagnose problems with your connection to the Internet. For example, if you cannot connect to your MLS via the Internet, open an MS-DOS prompt and type PING followed by the Host Name or IP Address you entered on the MLS Setup window (TCP/IP tab).
