PC Access for Windows Reference Guidefor PC Access for Windows 4.30.158Installing an Upgrade Version of PC Access 4.30If you purchased an Upgrade Version of PC Access 4.30, you must have your original "PC Access for Windows - Disk 1" from your PC Access version 4.00, 4.10, or 4.20 to complete the upgrade. Follow the instructions for installing PC Access 4.30 as you would for a non-upgrade Agent, Office/Broker, or Network version. After you install PC Access from the upgrade version diskettes or CD-ROM, the UAM will prompt you to reinsert "Disk 1." At this point the UAM will check your user authorization and warn that you have one (1) install count left. Select Yes to continue. At the Verify Registration Code window you must type in your four-character registration code from the brightly colored sticker on the outside of your PC Access 4.30 packaging. The code will begin with the letter The UAM will inform you that you are installing an upgrade version of PC Access. At this point you must insert your original PC Access "Disk 1" from your PC Access version 4.00, 4.10, or 4.20. (Do not insert the new "Disk 1" that came with your 4.30 upgrade version.). Click OK to continue. The UAM will verify that you have a legitimate "Disk 1" from an older version of PC Access. Then the UAM will install the user authorization for your new 4.30 upgrade version. · Note: Do not be alarmed by the UAM's initial message that you have only one (1) install count available. All upgrade versions of PC Access 4.30 come with one install count. During installation the UAM will determine whether your old version of PC Access was an Agent version or an Office/Broker version. If the UAM detects that you are upgrading from an Agent version of PC Access, the UAM will automatically modify your 4.30 "Disk 1" to have an additional two install counts, bringing it up to the same number of install counts that you would have received if you had purchased a non-upgrade version of PC Access 4.30. · Once you have used your old PC Access "Disk 1" as proof of ownership for a 4.30 upgrade edition, you may no longer use your old copy of PC Access. When you buy an upgrade version of PC Access you are getting the reduced price because you are not buying a second license. You are upgrading your old license to a version 4.30 license. That means your old license is no longer valid after you install the upgrade. This topic has changed for PC Access 4.30 (Wednesday, February 3, 1999).
