Know the Documentation

MFM works hard to provide complete and understandable documentation, not only for all features of PC Access, but also for every end-user problem we know how to solve. Like you, we talk to hundreds of PC Access users. We also learn about the hardest problems on our pca-support mailing list. When we find and solve a new problem, we publish it immediately on the MFM web, and later we work that information into the documentation we distribute with PC Access for Windows.

Our documentation is your key to efficient problem solving. It can also enable users to solve many future problems on their own. Most users are reluctant to read documentation, so you need to demonstrate its usefulness. Whenever you find we have already solved a user's problem, have the user display the relevant help topic(s) on his/her computer. (The PC Access online help contains the same information as the printed Reference Guide, and is in many ways more accessible.) Show him/her how to follow hypertext links, use the Search dialog, print topics, and get help on using Windows help. Teach the user how and why to use Windows help, and you will "give him/her a fishing pole, not a fish."
