PC Access for Windows Reference Guide

for PC Access for Windows 4.30.158

Network sharedPath Error

You should only see this error message if you are running a network version copy of PC Access. If you have installed an agent version or office/broker version copy of PC Access on a non-networked computer, see:

http://www.mfm.com/support/troubleshooting/run/sharedpatherror.html

This error indicates that PC Access cannot find your sharedPath directory. The error message reports the actual directory name that PC Access cannot find.

PC Access reads the name of the sharedPath directory from the corresponding line in your PCAWIN.INI file, in the [Network] section. When you ran the \PCAWIN\WORKSTA\SETUP.EXE program on your network server's drive to set up a network version copy of PC Access on your workstation, the SETUP.EXE program created your PCAWIN.INI file in your \WINDOWS or \WINNT directory. The SETUP.EXE program should have asked you to specify a directory to use as your sharedPath directory.

In Windows File Manager or Windows Explorer, check the directory PC Access cannot find. Make sure it still exists and that you have full access to it. You may need to ask your network administrator for assistance if he or she has unmapped or re-mapped your network's drives recently.

This topic has changed for PC Access 4.30 (Wednesday, July 26, 2000).
