Record for Auto-Logon

The Script | Record for Auto-Logon menu item on the Terminal window is only selectable when the following conditions are true:

· You are recording a script file; and

· You have specified a Login Script File on the MLS Setup (General Tab) window or Add/Edit Phone Book Entry window for the host you are currently online with.

PC Access enables Record for Auto-Logon by default when the above conditions are true. You may later unselect the Script | Record for Auto-Logon menu item at any time while you are recording a script file. If you leave this option selected, PC Access records a script file suitable for specifying in the Login Script File field for a new phone book entry. That new phone book entry will then be able to logon to your current host automatically and execute any additional host commands you record now.

To use your auto-logon script after you finish recording it, you should create a new phone book entry:

1. Open the Advanced Setup Menu window.
   
   
2. Open the Phone Book Setup window and highlight the phone book entry for the host from which you recorded your script.
   
   
3. Click the Copy button to open the Add Phone Book Entry window. Because you clicked the Copy button, PC Access automatically copies all the setup items from your highlighted phone book entry to the new entry you are creating.
   
   
4. In the Service Name field, type a name that identifies the host and the task your auto-logon script performs.
   
   
5. Make sure the Copy in step (3) has selected the same Emulation you used when you recorded the auto-logon script.
   
   
6. Click the Pick button next to the Login Script File field.
   
   
7. Select the auto-logon script you just recorded as your Login Script File. The script file you just recorded will be in the directory you specified as your Home Directory on the Add/Edit Agent window.
   
   
8. You can also specify a Delayed Dial Time on the Options tab. If you do this, you may dial your new phone book entry with the Later button on the Phone Book Select window.
   
   
9. Click the OK button.
   
   
10. Close the Phone Book Setup window.
    
    
11. Close the Advanced Setup Menu window.

You can then start a completely automatic session just by dialing your new entry in the Phone Book Select window.

· Important: When you plan to select the Script | Record for Auto Logon menu item, start recording your script at the first screen or prompt you see after you log on to the host. For example, on Master Systems, Maestro Systems, and the Compass MLS, this is usually the Main Menu screen. On the WPML system, this will be the FUNCTION ? prompt.

· You may also want to edit your script file after you finish recording it. To do this you must know the PC Access script language. For example, if you recorded yourself typing the current date in response to a prompt from your MLS, you can use the sendtoday script command to make your script run correctly on any future date.
