DOS prompt

The characters MS-DOS displays while it waits for your next DOS command. You can customize your DOS prompt using the PROMPT command in DOS. An example DOS prompt is: C:\PCAWIN>, indicating that your current drive is C: and your current directory is \PCAWIN. You may open an MS-DOS prompt window from Windows 95 or Windows NT by selecting Start | Programs | MS-DOS Prompt (or Command Prompt). The MS-DOS prompt window is often handy for typing DOS commands while you are receiving technical support.
