Integrated Services Digital Network: a communication service that uses the same residential or office telephone wiring as a POTS line, but provides digital data transfers at speeds up to 128K BPS. This is more than four times faster than a 28.8K BPS modem. ISDN is useful for creating a low-cost WAN.
