JPEG

Short for Joint Photographic Experts Group (pronounced jay-peg). JPEG is a lossy compression algorithm for color photos. "Lossy" compression means the JPEG algorithm loses some of the information in the original photo file; However, the JPEG algorithm takes advantage of the way the human brain perceives images, to make the information loss tolerable. The JPEG algorithm allows for a variable amount of loss: you can trade some image quality for a smaller JPEG file size. You can control this in PC Access with the Quality slider on the Photo Download Setup window.

PC Access is able to save photos from your Master, Maestro, and Compass MLS to JPEG format files with several commands. See the Photo Download Setup window topic for a list.
