Write Protected

A write-protected data storage medium is one with an interlock mechanism that prevents a computer from writing new data to the medium or erasing existing data on the medium.

To write on a 3.5" diskette, you must push the write-protect tab into the closed position. That is, when you look at the diskette from the front, you should not be able to see through the small square cutout in the upper-right corner.
