PC Access for Windows Reference Guidefor PC Access Version 4.30![]() ![]() ![]()
Modem Wizard WindowThe Modem Wizard appears when you click the Wizard button on the Modem Setup window or the Setup Assistant - Modem Setup window. If you are running Windows 95, 98, or NT, the Modem Wizard reads your Registry to determine if you have set up any modems in Windows. If you have, the Modem Wizard lets you select one of these modems by highlighting it in the Modems list. When you click the OK button, the Modem Wizard copies the following settings from the modem you select into the PC Access Modem Setup: · Port. · Dial Command. If you would like finer control over the settings the Modem Wizard copies into PC Access, click the Advanced Setup button. Technical notes: PC Access is a 16-bit Windows program. Thus it is unable to use the modem information in the Windows Registry and must maintain its own Modem Setup. In previous versions of PC Access this made setting up the modem difficult, because PC Access could not take advantage of the modem setup information already present in Windows. Several modem setup items (in particular the Initialize Command) were often difficult for even expert users to determine. Modem Wizard addresses this problem by painlessly copying your modem setup from Windows into PC Access. This topic is new for PC Access 4.30. More:
