Shared Path for Data Files

The Shared Path for Data files field controls where PC Access looks for the following files:

· PCAWIN.AGT, the file that stores your Agent Setup;

· PCAWIN.PBK, the file that stores your Phone Book Setup;

· SHARED.INI, the file that stores settings common to all network version copies of PC Access on your network;

· ACCESS.CTL, the file that controls file-locking for PCAWIN.AGT and PCAWIN.PBK.

Guidelines for using this field:

· If you are not running PC Access on a networked computer, you should leave this field containing its default value of "." which stands for the PC Access current directory.

· If you are not running PC Access on a networked computer, you may enter the name of a directory where your copy of PC Access will look for the above files. When you first install a workstation copy of a network version of PC Access, the Shared Path will be the directory on your network server where your system administrator installed PC Access.

· You may also edit this field manually to cause two or more non-network versions of PC Access running on a network to share a single set of the above files.

Setup item classification:

· Parent window: Defaults Setup

· Setup item type: Advanced

· Who specifies: You

· Importance: Optional
