PC Access for Windows Reference Guide

for PC Access Version 4.30

(Contents)(Previous)(Next)

Defaults Setup: Editor

Use this field to tell PC Access what editor to run when you do either of the following:

· Click the Editor button on the Main Menu window.

· Click the Go button on the Amortization window, and you have selected Editor...(Full Schedule) as your Destination.

You may either type the name of your favorite editor's executable file (such as NOTEPAD.EXE), or click the Pick button to display a file selector window. If the executable file is in your current DOS path, you need only type the file name. Otherwise you should include the complete path. Using the Pick button is safer, because it lets you insure your editor actually exists, and that you get the exact file name and path.

After you select an editor and close the Defaults Setup window, you should test whether PC Access can run your editor. Do so by clicking the Editor button on the Main Menu window. If you get an error, check that you have typed in a valid editor file name and path.

For an editor to work with PC Access, it must run under Windows, and it must accept a file name on its command line.

Setup item classification:

· Parent window: Defaults Setup

· Setup item type: Advanced

· Who specifies: You

· Importance: Necessary
