PC Access for Windows Reference Guidefor PC Access Version 4.30![]() ![]() ![]()
PCAPLUS.EXE Command-line OptionsThe PCAPLUS.EXE program displays the E-Mail Message window, the E-Mail Setup window, and the Internet Setup window. Normally you do not need to be aware that PC Access is launching a separate program to display these windows. The vast majority of users will have no need to run PCAPLUS.EXE directly from the command line. However, software developers and advanced users can run it from the command line as follows: C:\PCAWIN\PCAPLUS.EXE [options] If you installed PC Access into a different executable directory, change C:\PCAWIN in the above command line accordingly. For [options] you may substitute any combination of the command-line options in the list below. You must begin each option with a hyphen; separate successive options with spaces; and put double-quotes around any option value that contains embedded spaces: · address:"address" ¨ This option specifies the address for a listing. PC Access generates this command-line option in its call to PCAPLUS.EXE if you are online with a Compass MLS and you select a command to e-mail a listing that is in "flyer" format. If the zipcode: option is also present on the command line, PCAPLUS.EXE uses the address: option to generate a Yahoo map URL. PCAPLUS.EXE automatically inserts the Yahoo map URL into your message so your recipient can view a map showing the location of the listing. · agentdir:directory ¨ This option specifies an agent's Home Directory. In general, you must specify the -agentdir: option to run PCAPLUS.EXE usefully, because the agent's Home Directory contains or will contain some or all of the E-Mail accessory data files: MAIL.BMP, MAIL.HST, MAIL.INI, MAIL.JPG, MAIL.MSG, MAIL.OUT, MAIL.SIG, and MAIL.TXT. · flyer ¨ This option tells PCAPLUS.EXE that the Flyer Accessory launched it. This tells PCAPLUS.EXE to recognize different data files and/or data file formats than PC Access uses to communicate with PCAPLUS.EXE. · goto:URL ¨ This option opens your default Web browser. The browser displays the page corresponding to the URL argument. The E-Mail Message window does not appear. PC Access uses this feature to let you hyperlink to Web pages from the Terminal window while you are online with your MLS. · map ¨ This option opens your default Web browser to a Yahoo map page. The E-Mail Message window does not appear. For this option to work, the address: and zipcode: options must also be present on the command line. Currently there is no command in PC Access that launches PCAPLUS.EXE with the map option. · mls:mlsnumber ¨ This option specifies the MLS number of a listing. PCAPLUS.EXE incorporates the MLS number as part of a default value for the Subject field on the E-Mail Message window. · notext ¨ This option tells PCAPLUS.EXE not to look for a MAIL.TXT file in the agent's Home Directory specified by the agentdir:directory option. Specifying the notext option displays the E-Mail Message window with no Listing Information field. · send ¨ This option tells PCAPLUS.EXE to send any messages in MAIL.OUT, if it exists in the current agent's Home Directory specified by the agentdir:directory option. If you selected Use Dial-Up Networking to Access the Internet on the Internet Setup window, PCAPLUS.EXE dials your ISP to connect you to the Internet before sending any messages in MAIL.OUT. The send option is useful if PC Access launched PCAPLUS.EXE earlier with the spool option. · setup ¨ This option displays the E-Mail Setup window instead of the E-Mail Message window. · spool ¨ This option tells PCAPLUS.EXE to append the message to the MAIL.OUT file in the current agent's Home Directory when the user clicks the Send button on the E-Mail Message window. The spool option prevents PCAPLUS.EXE from attempting to send the message before it closes. PC Access launches PCAPLUS.EXE with the spool option when you send a message and your computer cannot connect to the Internet immediately. · to:email@address.com ¨ In a test version of PCAPLUS.EXE, this option placed the email@address.com string in the E-Mail To field on the E-Mail Message window. This option may not be active in your copy of PCAPLUS.EXE. Future versions may use it. · zipcode:nnnnn ¨ This option works similarly to the address: option. Here is an example command line: C:\PCAWIN\PCAPLUS.EXE -agentdir:bob -send In general, the command line must contain an agentdir:directory option to specify an agent's Home Directory. This topic is new for PC Access 4.30 (Wednesday, March 3, 1999).
