Stop Bits

Your modem sends a special pattern at the end of each 7 or 8 bits of data, so the receiving modem can know how to separate the incoming bits into characters. Your modem can use either 1 or 2 stop bits.

· Tip: If you have to guess, most remote systems will expect 1 stop bit.
