Learn to Check ComputersInstalling PC Access requires several steps. Failure is possible at any step. Many problems are avoidable if the user's computer has adequate memory, disk space, and adequate peripherals. The simplest way to check a user's computer is to have them run MSD and send you the report file. Unfortunately, MSD doesn't diagnose modem problems such as lack of hardware error correction or unreliable flow control. Try running PORTINFO to diagnose persistent serial port problems. "Problem computers" will generate many of your support calls. Often you will be attempting to debug the user's hardware or system software, which is properly the job of their hardware vendor. However, to insure that the hardware vendor understands a problem, you must first diagnose it as well as you can.
