Terminal window displays gibberish

· If you always see gibberish every time you call your MLS, suspect an incorrect MLS Setup, such as the wrong parity, number of data bits, or number of stop bits.

¨ Also check your terminal emulation. (For example, if you select Maestro when your host is a Master system, you will see gibberish in the Terminal window.)

· If you see gibberish only some times when you call your MLS, your MLS may have a defective modem. Your MLS probably has a bank of several modems for serving multiple users simultaneously. If one modem out of the bank is bad, you'll see the gibberish only when you connect to that modem. The other times you call your MLS, you might connect to a good modem and not see the gibberish. Call your MLS provider and ask if other users complain of occasional bad connections.

· If you get gibberish when you call other remote computer services besides your MLS, you may have a noisy telephone line. Call your telephone company and have them check the line.
