The BBS asks for a download protocol. Type Z for Zmodem and press the Enter key. 6. Your file should begin downloading automatically. The PC Access Receive (Download) File(s) window should open. If this window does not appear, click the Download button at the top of the Terminal window. A status indicator shows you the progress of your download. Since the first file is large, the download will require several minutes even with a fast modem. 7. The MFM Support BBS entry in your Phone Book should have the Use Public Download Directory check box selected. That means when you download a file from the MFM Support BBS, it should go to your public download directory. This will be a subdirectory of your PC Access for Windows executable directory. The subdirectory name is DOWNLOAD. 8. After you finish downloading the file completely, exit PC Access by clicking the Exit button on the Main Menu window. 9. Start a DOS session either by exiting Windows, by double-clicking the MS-DOS Prompt icon in your Program Manager Main group (Windows 3.1x), or by selecting Start | Programs | MS-DOS Prompt from your Windows 95 Taskbar. When you get a DOS prompt, type these commands: C: CD \PCAWIN CD DOWNLOAD DIR PCAWUPDT.EXE (Press the Enter key after each command. If you installed PC Access for Windows to a different drive or directory, modify the above commands accordingly.) 10. Verify that the PCAWUPDT.EXE file exists. If you do not see this file in your DOWNLOAD directory, you can search for it everywhere on your C: drive with this command: DIR \PCAWUPDT.EXE /S 11. Move the file to your PC Access for Windows executable directory from wherever it is. If it is in the DOWNLOAD directory, type these commands: CD \PCAWIN MOVE DOWNLOAD\PCAUPDT.EXE \PCAWIN (If you have an old version of DOS, the MOVE command may be unavailable, giving you a BAD COMMAND OR FILE NAME error. If so, use the COPY command instead.) PCAWUPDT.EXE (The above command runs PCAWUPDT.EXE in your C:\PCAWIN directory. PCAWUPDT.EXE is a self-extracting archive file. If it asks you for permission to extract files, say "yes.") 12. After you have extract all files from PCAWUPDT.EXE, return to Windows. (Either type EXIT if you are running in an MS-DOS shell, or type WIN to restart Windows if you had exited Windows completely.) 13. Start PC Access for Windows. PC Access will automatically detect the update files and prompt you for permission to update your current version of PC Access. Click the Yes button on the message window. PC Access will update itself and exit back to Windows. 14. Run PC Access again. You should now be running the new version. To see your current version number and build number, click the MFM button on the Main Menu window.
