PC Access for Windows Reference Guidefor PC Access Version 4.30![]() ![]() ![]()
Internal ErrorAn internal error is an error that exceeds the diagnostic power of PC Access and its online help system. Because of the extreme complexity of software programs and the computers that run them, it is usually much easier for a software developer to detect an error than to understand its cause and solution. When MFM designed your copy of PC Access, we built in tests for dozens of error conditions. In the online help, we documented hundreds of possible causes and remedies for these errors. However, because of the infinite variety of computer hardware and user behaviors, sometimes we do not fully understand what can cause a particular error until a customer actually reports it to us. By collecting information about that customer's computer and what (s)he did to elicit the error, we can find a solution and improve our future versions of PC Access. If you are getting an internal error, or another help topic has told you to follow the instructions here, then you are entering territory MFM had not yet explored when we wrote your copy of PC Access. We may have found a solution already, or you may be the first person to have this problem. Either way, you will need to contact your technical support representative for assistance. You may also look on MFM's site on the World Wide Web to find the latest troubleshooting information. After you finish reading this help topic, close the help window and return to the error message window. Write down all the information that appears in the message window, exactly as it appears. · If the error message came from PC Access itself (and not a separate program such as the UAM) you can obtain additional information which may help MFM solve the problem sooner. Press Alt-space on your keyboard to pull down a special menu. You should see a Source... item on the menu. If so, click it to display the Source message for the error. Write down the Module Name and Line Number. You may also fill out the PC Access Problem Report form on MFM's site on the World Wide Web: http://www.mfm.com/feedback/pcawin_problem.html
