PC Access for Windows Reference Guide

for PC Access Version 4.30

(Contents)(Previous)(Next)

Unable to start update process

This message appears after LAUNCH.EXE renames your PCAWUPDT.EXE file to UPDATE.EXE and is unable to execute it to extract PC Access update files. If this happens, most probably your copy of PCAWUPDT.EXE became corrupted when you downloaded it. You can test the integrity of your resulting copy of UPDATE.EXE with a program such as PKUNZIP, for example by checking it with the -t command-line option:

PKUNZIP -t UPDATE.EXE

If your copy is corrupted, delete it and download a new copy of PCAWUPDT.EXE to your PC Access executable directory. If you are using a command-line version of FTP to download the file, be sure you have set your mode to BINARY.

This topic is new for PC Access 4.30 (Monday, January 25, 1999).
