Back Up PC Access for Windows Setup Files WindowThe Back Up PC Access for Windows Setup Files window appears when you double-click the Back Up PCAWin Setup shortcut in your PC Access for Windows folder on your Windows desktop. This window provides a convenient way to back up your PC Access setup files to your "PC Access for Windows - Disk 1." This enables the PC Access SETUP.EXE program to restore your setup files if you ever need to reinstall PC Access. For added protection, you should also create a setup-dump file by selecting the Dump button on the Setup Menu window. To use this window, select the items you want to back up, select a diskette drive letter (A:\ or B:\), insert your "PC Access for Windows - Disk 1" into the drive, and click the Back Up button. Technical notes: the Back Up PC Access for Windows Setup Files window appears when the LAUNCH.EXE program in your PC Access executable directory runs with the BACKUP option on the command line. For example: · C:\PCAWIN\LAUNCH.EXE BACKUP The LAUNCH.EXE program copies these files or files matching these wildcard patterns from your PC Access executable directory to a \BACKUP directory on your "PC Access for Windows - Disk 1": · Phonebook Files: *.PBK - Normally there will be only one: PCAWIN.PBK. This contains information you enter on the MLS Setup and the Phone Book Setup windows. · List of Agents: *.AGT - Normally there will be only one: PCAWIN.AGT. This contains information you enter on the Agent Setup and the Add/Edit Agent windows. · Modem Settings: PCAWIN.INI - This contains information you enter on the Modem Setup, Defaults Setup, and Internet Setup windows. · ABM Files: *.ABM - This includes any ABM file(s) you may have received from your MLS. · User Authorization: *.EKB. The LAUNCH.EXE program does not back up any setup files PC Access stores in an agent's home directory. This includes the E-Mail Setup files: MAIL.INI, MAIL.HST, and MAIL.SIG. The LAUNCH.EXE program also does not back up the information you enter on the Printer Setup and Add/Edit Printer windows (the PCAWIN.PTR file). You can determine exactly what files the LAUNCH.EXE program backs up by examining the FILELIST.DAT file in your PC Access executable directory. FILELIST.DAT is a plain text file you can view with any text editor such as Windows Notepad. This topic is new for PC Access 4.30.
