Setting up a HotSync Schedule

If you set up a download schedule in Pocket Full of Listings Desktop, you may also want to set up a HotSync schedule on your Palm compatible PDA. By setting up a HotSync schedule, the HotSync manager will automatically transfer to your PDA (on a daily basis) the listings that Pocket Full of Listings Desktop downloads.

1. From your PDA's Main Menu, tap PFoL MLS. From the Pocket Full of Listings Main Menu window, tap the Tools button.
   
   
2. From the Tools window, tap the Automatic Updates button.

   

3. To select a HotSync time, check the Enable Automatic Updates check box.
   
   
4. To adjust the time, highlight the hours or minutes and tap the up and down arrow buttons. Pocket Full of Listings displays the time directly above the Enable Automatic Updates check box. The time at the bottom of the screen is the current time of day, not the update time you're scheduling.

   You should select a time that is at least one hour after Pocket Full of Listings Desktop starts downloading listings. If you have a slow Internet connection speed or if you are downloading a lot of listings, you may want to schedule HotSync for two or three hours after Pocket Full of Listings Desktop starts downloading listings. Basically, you want to make sure that your PDA does not HotSync before Pocket Full of Listings Desktop finishes downloading listings. You need to allow ample time between the start time you specified on the Schedule window on the Runtime Behavior tab in Pocket Full of Listings Desktop, and the Next Scheduled Update time you specify on the Automatic Updates window in Pocket Full of Listings.

5. Regardless of whether or not you set up a download schedule in Pocket Full of Listings Desktop, you do not have to set up a HotSync schedule. If you leave your PDA in the cradle at night, and you want it ready to go first thing in the morning, a HotSync schedule may work for you. If you set up a HotSync schedule in Pocket Full of Listings, HotSync will also synchronize any other PDA application(s) that use HotSync. Likewise, if you manually start HotSync (by pressing the HotSync button on your PDA's cradle), Pocket Full of Listings will synchronize along with all of your other PDA applications.
   
   
6. Tap Save to return to the Pocket Full of Listings Main Menu window.
