PC Access and E-Mail

E-Mail is rapidly becoming the universal method for transmitting information. The PC Access for Windows E-Mail Accessory Program is a self contained "send-only" e-mail tool (you cannot use it to read e-mail). The E-Mail Accessory Program works as part PC Access for Windows, and is not part of any other e-mail program, so you can rely on current information from your MLS being formatted for transmission.

This online guide will show you how to obtain your Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) mail server name from your existing e-mail program.

To use the E-Mail Accessory you must have an account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) that provides an SMTP mail server. You must know the address of this SMTP mail server, along with your own email address. If you already know this information you probably don't need to read this document. On the other hand, if you have no idea what your SMTP mail server address is and if you're using Netscape Navigator, Netscape Communicator, Microsoft Outlook, or another mail program, then continue reading this document.

If you do not already have an e-mail account, you will need to get one. If you have Internet access from your home or office, chances are good that your ISP offers e-mail accounts. Ask your System Manager or ISP for more information if you need an e-mail account, or look in the Yellow Pages under Internet. Most ISPs offer e-mail accounts together with access to the Internet for a small monthly fee, be sure to specify that you would like an SMTP e-mail account. Not all ISPs offer SMTP e-mail accounts.

PC Access for Windows E-Mail Accessory Program only runs under Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT. The E-Mail Accessory Program is a 32-bit program, and does not function under Windows 3.1x or DOS operating systems.
