Installing PC Access in Safe Mode

Introduction
If you experience difficulty installing the PC Access program files or the PC Access
User Authorization,
you may need to boot your computer into
Safe Mode to install PC Access.
When you boot your computer into Safe Mode:
- You bypass some of your Windows Startup files
- Windows temporarily disables a majority of its devices
- Windows uses the Standard VGA driver
- You temporarily disable any anti-virus program
When Windows is using any of the above files or programs, they may
conflict with the installation of the PC Access program files or the
User Authorization.
Bypassing or disabling the above files or programs should allow you to install PC Access or the
User Authorization.
Use the instructions that follow to Boot Windows 95 into Safe Mode or
Boot Windows 98 into Safe Mode and Install PC Access.
Boot Windows 95 into Safe Mode
- Click Start |
Shutdown | Restart.
- Your computer will shut down and restart.
- When your computer displays the Windows 95 Startup Screen or a screen with
your computer manufacturer's name, press the F8 key
on your keyboard several times.
- From the Microsoft Windows 95 Startup Menu, type 3 for
Safe Mode and press Enter.
- Your computer will boot into Safe Mode.
- To install PC Access see: Install PC Access in Safe Mode.
Boot Windows 98 into Safe Mode
- Click Start |
Shutdown | Restart.
- Your computer will shut down and restart.
- When your computer restarts, press and hold down the CTRL
key or press the F8 on your keyboard. You need to press
either one of these keys before the Windows logo appears.
- From the Microsoft Windows 98 Startup Menu, type 3 for
Safe Mode and press Enter.
- Your computer will boot into Safe Mode.
- To install PC Access see: Install PC Access in Safe Mode.
Boot Windows ME into Safe Mode
- Click Start |
Shut Down.
- Click Restart | OK.
- When your computer restarts, press and hold down the CTRL
key until the Microsoft Windows Startup Menu
appears.
- On some computers you can press the F8 key instead of
the CTRL key to bring up the
Microsoft Windows Startup Menu.
- From the Microsoft Windows Startup Menu, type the number for
Safe Mode and press Enter.
- Your computer will boot into Safe Mode.
- To install PC Access see: Install PC Access in Safe Mode.
Boot Windows 2000 into Safe Mode
- Click Start |
Help.
- From the Help menu, search for Safe Mode.
- On the list of matches, read the Starting Windows in Safe Mode.

Boot Windows XP into Safe Mode
- Click Start |
Help.
- From the Help menu, search for Safe Mode.

Install PC Access in Safe Mode
- From Windows, click
Start |
Run.
- In the Run dialog box, type A:\SETUP.EXE
and click OK.
- Follow the instructions on your screen to install PC Access. If you
need assistance you can download the PC Access Installation Guide from
HTML and PDF Versions of Program Manuals and Windows
Help Files.
- When you finish installing PC Access, follow the instructions on your
screen to install your
User Authorization.
- When you finish installing your
User Authorization, exit PC Access and restart Windows.
- Note: When you restart Windows do not press the F8 or
CTRL key. This will allow Windows to restart in Normal mode.
