The PC Access® for Windows CD-ROM contains the program files. The 3.5"
disk contains your User Authorization and configuration files. If you are installing PC Access
from diskettes, disks 2 - 4 or 5 contain the program files and Disk 1
contains your User Authorization and configuration files. If your computer does not have
a 3.5" disk drive, you can still install your User Authorization and configuration files.
If you have access to a 3.5" USB floppy disk drive, you can use the
instructions on this page to install the PC Access program
files, your User Authorization, and configuration files. To get started,
see: Install to a Computer via a 3.5" USB Floppy disk drive.
If you need assistance, you can contact MFM Technical Support via e-mail at:
mfm-techsupport@mfm.com.
MFM does not provide telephone support for these instructions. In addition,
MFM does not provide support for Windows, Networks, or other Peripherals you
may have connected to your computer. Other Peripherals may include,
a USB Floppy Disk Drive, CD-Burner, or External Hard Disk Drive.
- Note: MFM does not provide support for configuring your
USB floppy drive in Windows. If you need assistance
configuring your USB floppy drive, contact the drive's manufacturer.
If your USB floppy drive came with your computer, you may need to
contact the OEM vendor.
-
Install PC Access to your computer. If you need assistance, see:
Installing Files.
- Note: an anti-virus program, like Norton AntiVirus
or McAfee AntiVirus,
may interfere with the InstallShield installation program.
If InstallShield freezes during the installation
process, or does not continue further than the Progress Indicator
window, temporarily disable your anti-virus program. When you finish
installing PC Access for Windows, you can enable
your anti-virus program.
- After you install the PC Access program files, the Setup program
runs the User Authorization Manager (UAM).
The UAM performs two separate installations. During the
first installation, the UAM installs the configuration files.
In the second installation, the UAM installs the user authorization.
Before the UAM can install the configuration or user authorization files,
you may need to substitute A:\ with the actual drive letter of
your USB floppy drive.
- After the UAM installs the configuration files,
it will prompt you to install your user authorization.
Since you are using a USB floppy drive you may need to substitute
A:\ with the actual drive letter of your USB floppy drive.
Next, you need to add =force to the prompt. If your USB floppy drive
is drive A:\, you will enter this command: A:\=force.
After you enter A:\=force, click OK.
If you previously installed this copy of PC Access to any computer,
the UAM may display this message:
Confirm
I have detected some previously installed
User Authorizations that are backed up on
Disk #1.
Would you like to see if any of them were created
on this PC? Click "No" if you know this is the
first time you're installing on this PC.
<< Yes >> << No >> << Cancel >>
If you previously installed PC Access to this computer, click
Yes. The UAM will restore your previously
installed user authorization. To continue, see step 6.
If this is the first time you are installing PC Access to this computer;
or the user authorization did not restore, click No.
This message will appear:
Warning
You have 1 install count(s) left.
PC Access 4.30 requires you to install a valid
User Authorization before it will operate,
but you should be aware that once you use
an install count you can never move it to
a different PC.
Are you ready to continue?
<< Yes >> << No >> << Cancel >>
Click Yes to install your user authorization.
- The UAM opens the
Generate Forced Install Reset Code window. This window
displays a Serial Number and Validation Code.
Click this link:
Reset Code Request Form to open the
Reset Code Request Form. You will use this form to
submit your Serial Number and Validation Code
to MFM Technical Support. After MFM Technical Support receives your
request, they will e-mail you a reset code. After you receive your reset code,
continue with the next step in these instructions.
- Note: Do not press Enter or click
OK until you enter your reset code. Keep the
Generate Forced Install Reset Code window
open until you enter your reset code from MFM Technical Support.
If you close the window before you enter your reset code, you will
have to run A:\=force again. This may change the
Serial Number or Validation Code.
This means the reset code from MFM Technical Support may no longer
be valid.
- Enter the reset code from MFM Technical Support in the
Reset Codefield on the
Generate Forced Install Reset Code window and click
OK. After the UAM installs your user
authorization, it will back up your user authorization to the
EKB_BKUP directory on Disk 1.
- Note: the reset code will start with the letter F
followed by a series of numbers and letters. For example: F-123-456-aaa.
Do not enter any other reset code in this field.

your registration code in the REGCODE.DAT file on
Disk 1. You do not need to enter your registration code
