Introduction

PC Access for Windows can generate a setup-dump file describing all of your PC Access for Windows setup items. The setup-dump file may be useful to your support representative when you have a difficult support problem.

You should follow these instructions when requested to do so by a technical support representative.


Saving Your Setup-Dump File

  1. From the PC Access Main Menu, click Setup Menu.
  2. From the Setup Menu, click Setup Assistant.
  3. From the Setup Assistant window, click Dump.
  4. The Save Setup Dump File window should display the following information:
    • File name: PCAWSET.TXT
    • Folders: C:\PCAWIN\DOWNLOAD
      • If you installed PC Access for Windows to a directory other than C:\PCAWIN, the above folder path will be different.
  5. Leave the Folders: setting as it is. However, change the File name: from PCAWSET.TXT to something unique to you. You can construct a file name from your first initial and the first seven characters of your last name. For example, if your name is Pat Producer, you would type:
      PPRODUCE.TXT
      
  6. Click OK to save your setup-dump file.
  7. Click Close on the Setup Assistant window.
  8. After you create your Setup-Dump file, see: Sending your Setup-Dump File to MFM.

Sending your Setup-Dump File to MFM

  1. Open your E-mail message window.
    • If you are following these instructions on-line, Click here to open an e-mail message window.
    • If you are reading a printed copy of these instructions, click File | New | Message
      • Note: If your E-mail message window does not have an option to use File | New | Message, contact your software provider if you need assistance opening an E-mail message window.
  2. In the body of the message, include:
    • Your name
    • Your E-mail address
    • Describe the problem you are having
    • Your PC Access Build and Version number
  3. Click Attach to attach a copy of your Setup-Dump file to this e-mail message.
    • Note: If your E-mail message window does not have an option to Attach, contact your software provider for assistance.
  4. In the To: field type:
  5. Click Send to send your message and Setup-Dump File to MFM Technical Support.
