Introduction
"MSD" stands for Microsoft Diagnostics, a program
that detects and reports many details about your
computer's hardware and software. Most
Microsoft
operating systems have included some version of
the MSD program. The name of this program in
Windows NT is WinMSD. Providing a WinMSD report to your support representative or MFM Technical Support
is usually essential for solving difficult support problems.

If you are running Windows NT 4.0, the instructions that follow will guide you
through:

Creating your WinMSD Report
- Click Start |
Programs | Administrative Tools |
Windows NT Diagnostics
- On the Windows NT Diagnostics window, click Print
- On the Create Report window select the following:
- Under Scope, select All tabs
- Under Detail Level, select Complete
- Under Destination, select Clipboard
- On the Create Report window, click OK.
This will copy your WinMSD Report to the Windows Clipboard.

Sending your WinMSD Report
- Open your E-mail message window.
- If you are following these instructions on-line,
Click here to
open an e-mail message window.
- If you are reading a printed copy of these instructions,
click File | New | Message
- Note: If your E-mail message window does not have an option to use
File | New | Message, contact your software
provider if you need assistance opening an E-mail message window.
- In the body of the message, include:
- Click Edit | Paste. This will copy your WinMSD Report
from the Windows Clipboard to your E-mail message window.
- Note: If your E-mail message window does not have an option to
Edit | Paste, contact your software
provider for assistance.
- In the To: field type:
- Click Send to send your message and WinMSD report to MFM
