Original Version
Warning!
Portions of this docucument are now obsolete. MFM preserves
this document for historical reference only. Always check the
Technical Bulletin
Summary for the latest updates to this technical bulletin.
- Authorization Error 7156 or 7155 during installation on Texas
Instruments 486 notebook computers.
- The AzTech Everlock copy protection software causes the above
error in PC Access version 4.00. To correct this problem, you need to
upgrade to
PC Access 4.10 or later. PC Access
4.10 and later versions use
Stop Copy copy protection software.
- Slow printing performance with HP Desk Jet printers on computers with 4MB RAM.
- The HP Desk Jet series print drivers are quite large. If your computer has only 4MB RAM,
Windows will have to excessively swap to the hard disk for extra memory.
This will cause you to experience significant degradation in printing performance under these
conditions due to excessive disk swapping by Windows. The solution is to
upgrade to a minimum of 8MB of memory in the PC. This dramatically improves
system performance. MFM higly recommends that you have at least 16 MB of RAM if
you plan to run Windows 95.
- Incorrect use of printer fonts with the Panasonic KXP1124 dot matrix printer.
- Some users report this problem; however, MFM is unable to duplicate it. To correct the
problem, the user should use a Courier True Type font. This will result in
slower printing, but provides acceptable output.
- User always receives an "invalid" message when entering their
registration code on the Registration Window.
- The user authorization was not moved from the floppy to the hard disk
during install. This is most likely due to the user removing the floppy disk
and not inserting it when requested. The solution is to cancel the Registration
Window, insert Disk 1 and restart PC Access for Windows. This will force the
the PC Access SETUP.EXE program
to move the user authorization to the hard disk. When the user autorization
is on the hard disk, you can proceed with registration. MFM will add
a descriptive
message to prevent this confusion.
- PC Tools Virtual Desk Top causes GPFs when launching PCAWin.
- A user reported a GPF that occurred in the desktop software and not PC Access.
To correct the problem, the user switched back to program manager.
- Compaq Presario 924 reboots while on-line with the MLS when using the
internal Compaq 14.4Kbps modem.
- This problem appears to be with the Compaq hardware. MFM is investigating
this problem with Compaq. An interim work around is to set the baud rate to
4800 in PC Access. MFM will advise when additional information is available.
Note: the Compaq model number appears on the tower part of the PC and NOT the
monitor!
