Summary for the latest updates to this technical bulletin.
- Printing from the HP Laser Jet 5L causes PC Access for Windows to hang after printing the first photo
- MFM has duplicated the problem and determined that the problem relates
to the print driver and not PC Access. To correct the above problem,
set the Job Timeout to 0 (zero)
When you set the Job Timeout to 0 (zero) you will be unable
to print a single report longer than 100 pages.
MFM corrected the above problem in later Builds. See:
Upgrading PC Access for information on
obtaining the latest upgrade.
- Printing a large number of photos causes a "GDI Error" or causes Windows to operate incorrectly
- MFM corrected this problem in
Build 92. You can dowload an update from:
Download PC Access for Windows Build 98.
- Update on the Compaq Presario 520 & 924 computer reboot problem
- On Compaq Presario PCs we have tracked the problem down to a bad modem and old
firmware on the modem card. Compaq will replace free of charge
(assuming the computer is under warranty) any modems that exhibit this problem.
The suspect modem needs to be replaced with a new modem (part number is 176501-001),
and a new firmware (part number 176508-001).
On Presario 520 PCs the entire motherboard must be replaced (oh how fun!).
- Possible solution to other PC's exhibiting rebooting while connected to the MLS
- On any other PC that exhibits the rebooting, check which COM port the modem is on.
If it is on COM2:, reconfigure the modem to use a different COM port (do not use COM4
if the video card is 8514 compatible).
There appears to be some type of conflict between the modem and the video card
on some PCs. We do not know what could be causing this problem, but Zoom
Telephonics suggested there could be such a problem and their suggestion seems
to have provided relief in several cases we have tried.
- Acer computer systems cause PCAWin to hang
- Some Acer computer systems come preloaded with "Telephony Suite" software.
The "Telephony Suite" software prevents PC Access from accessing
the computers serial port. To correct the above problem, uninstall the
"Telephony Suite" software.
