Original Version

Compaq, Dell, or NEC computers using a SuperDisk (LS-120) disk drive

Problem: Users who are installing PC Access for Windows 4.30 on a Compaq, Dell, or a NEC computer that is using a SuperDisk (LS-120) disk drive may experience a computer reboot.

The computer's BIOS fails to read the boot sector on disk 1 properly. This causes the computer to reboot.

MFM has fixed this problem in PC Access for Windows version 4.30.151.

If you are using a version of PC Access older than Build 151, MFM has developed a workaround which seems to solve the problem on these computers.

Solution: Boot into Windows 98 Safe Mode to install PC Access for Windows 4.30.

If this does not correct the problem, contact your local PC Access Technical Support representative or complete the PC Access Problem Report Form and an MFM Technical Support Representative will assist you.

MFM Technical Support and VISTAinfo Technical Support are fully aware of this system abnormality with PC Access for Windows 4.30.

To boot Windows 98 into Safe Mode, see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article ID: Q180902
