ABM Serial Number Mismatch

Introduction

Some MLS systems require PC Access for Windows to send an Answer Back Message (ABM) to the host MLS system. The ABM file (PCAWIN.ABM) contains your PC Access serial number and the MLS Answer Back string.

If the information in your PCAWIN.ABM file is incorrect, you may see the following message:

The ABM file selected for this service had a different serial number than your software. No ABM file will be sent to the host.

1. Insert your PC Access Disk 1 into your diskette drive.
2. Windows 95, 98, or NT users:
   Click Start | Programs | Windows Explorer.
3. In Windows Explorer click on your A:\ drive to view the contents of PC Access Disk 1.
4. Click on the PCAWIN.ABM file.
5. Click Edit | Copy.
6. Next, click on your PCAWIN folder.
7. Click Edit | Paste. This will copy the PCAWIN.ABM file from your PC Access Disk 1 to the PCAWIN folder on your hard disk.
   • Note: If Windows prompts you to overwrite the PCAWIN.ABM file, click Yes.
8. Click File | Close to exit Windows Explorer.
9. Click Start | Programs | PC Access for Windows | PC Access for Windows.
10. Log in to your MLS system.
    • Note: If the above steps do not correct the ABM Serial Number Mismatch Error, you need to contact your local MLS to obtain a new PCAWIN.ABM file. MFM Technical Support and Moore Data Technical Support do not have the information necessary to create a PCAWIN.ABM file that works with your local MLS.
