[Related Information]
PC Access connects to your MLS using your Windows Dial-Up Networking
connection when all these conditions are true:
- You click the Call MLS button on the PC Access Main Menu window
- Earlier you selected Use Dial-up Networking to access the Internet
from the Internet Setup menu
- The Windows Dial-Up Networking connection you specified in the
Dial-Up Connection field on the Internet Setup window is still
present in your Windows Dial-Up Networking
If you remove the Windows Dial-Up Networking connection that PC Access uses,
PC Access will display the following error message when you connect to your MLS:
TagRAS component was unable to detect RAS on your system.
To correct the above error, select the
option that describes your situation:
- If you have not changed your ISP or your Windows Dial-Up Networking connection, see:
- If you changed your Internet access from a Windows
Dial-Up Networking connection to
an ADSL or Cable modem, see:
- If you changed ISP's and have a new Windows Dial-Up Networking connection, see:
- Click Start | Settings |
Control Panel | Network.
- In the Configuration tab, look in the
The following network components are installed:
section. Make sure you have the following components installed:
- Dial-Up Adapter
- TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter
If the above components are installed, you need to create a
Dial-Up Networking connection. If the above components are
not installed, contact your ISP for assistance.
- To create a Dial-Up Networking connection,
click Start | Programs |
Accessories | Communication
| Dial-Up Networking.
- Double-click Make New Connection. Follow the
instructions on your screen to set up a
Dial-Up Networking connection. If you do not have
the settings you need to set up a Dial-Up Networking connection
contact your ISP for assistance.
- From the PC Access Main Menu, click
Setup Menu | Advanced |
Internet.
- On the Internet Setup window, select
Use LAN to Access the Internet.
- Note: When you select Use LAN to Access the Internet
PC Access assumes your computer already connects to the Internet.
Thus PC Access does not attempt to connect to the Internet
using a Dial-Up Networking connection.
- From the PC Access Main Menu, click
Setup Menu | Advanced |
Internet.
- On the Internet Setup window, make sure you
have Use Dial-Up Networking to Access the Internet
selected.
- Next to Dial-Up Connection select your Dial-Up Networking
connection from the drop-down list. If you do not see a Dial-Up Networking
connection to your ISP, follow these instructions:
Correcting the PC Access TagRAS Error with an ISP
